Figuier Noir is Houbigant's fragrance for men, described as calming and elegant yet deliberately contradictory. Perfumer Céline Ellena drew inspiration from everyday life in the countryside near Grasse, where the fig trees give off a bitter and sensual scent in the early-summer heat. She was sitting beneath a black fig tree when the idea was born and then built the formula from a small number of aromatic ingredients. It launched in 2022.
The fragrance opens with fig leaf, cardamom, black pepper and clove. At its heart are black fig, iris and jasmine, and it settles into a base of fig, cedarwood, patchouli and candied fruit.
Figuier Noir is a woody, green and lightly spicy fragrance for those who appreciate fig in a dark, masculine form.
About Houbigant
Houbigant is a French perfume house founded in 1775 by Jean-François Houbigant on the rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris, and it soon perfumed royal and aristocratic clients. The house is behind classics such as Fougère Royale from 1882, which the brand highlights as a fragrance that defined the fougère family, and Quelques Fleurs from 1912. Since 2005, the Perris family has controlled the Houbigant name for perfume and cosmetics.
